Bree Philippe

It is with great sadness and the heaviest of hearts that The Philippe Family announces the death of Bree Danielle Philippe. Bree, age 35, died at her home in St. Petersburg FL, May 23, 2020, with her parents lovingly by her side. Unfortunately Bree lost her fight to a short and difficult battle with cervical cancer. She was born at the Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on February 12, 1985 to proud parents John & Beverlee and big brother Alan - A beautiful baby girl that completed the family of four. Bree herself became a proud parent to her baby boy, Anthony, on November 4, 2018. Many of his ‘firsts’ were caught on video or in picture and sent with adoration to friends and family. Beyond being a mother, Bree loved the outdoors. She loved camping, going to the beach and sitting cozily next to a campfire – combine all those three things together and that depicted her happy place. Bree graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University in 2011. Bree held the position of President of the Halifax/Dartmouth Transportation Club from 2011-2012. Prior to moving to Florida, Bree also completed the Sandler President's Certificate in Sales course and worked in sales at Comfort Foam located in Burnside, NS. Bree had a passion for soccer like no other and played on many women soccer teams throughout her soccer career. She was #17 on the Saint Mary’s University women’s soccer team. In most recent years, Bree very much enjoyed coaching the Auburn High School Boys Soccer and Under 13 Girls Soccer Teams, here in Cole Harbour. She always wanted to teach her eldest niece, Kate, how to play the game she held so dear to her heart. Bree was an avid writer and put words to paper so effortlessly and passionately. When Bree loved, she loved fiercely; this can be witnessed in her many journal entries she’s left behind. Bree believed in fairy-tale love, she had a love for music and a love for animals/her pets. Bree lived life by the premise of ‘YOLO!’ (you only live once). Bree is survived by her beautiful son, Anthony Alan Arellano (he has his mama’s curls) and husband Anthony Arellano of St. Petersburg Florida. She is also survived by her parents, John and Beverlee Philippe; brother Alan (Shannon) Philippe and two nieces, Katherine and Alice Philippe; grandparents, Fern and Nellie Philippe; many uncles, aunts, and cousins of both the Philippe and Manuel families. Bree was preceded in death, and now watches over family and friends alongside grandparents, Leo and Rita Manuel; surrogate grandparents Nicki and Carl Armsworthy; aunt Nancy Manuel; and her beloved family dog, Tessie. Bree was so fortunate in life to have so many wonderful friends, many of whom have fought this fight together with Bree and her family. Not all angels exist in in heaven (as Bree does now), some walk here on earth - Thank you to the angels sent to The Philippe Family during this challenging time; Tami (Patrick) Salkus, Megan (Matt) Hadley, Laura (Barry) Hoffer, Lindsay (Gerald) Gloade-Raining Bird, Laura (Adam) Burke, and Karen (Sal) Armsworthy. Bree was so blessed to have both Tami and Karen spend two separate weeks by her side in Florida in the fall of 2019. To everyone who has helped support and comfort Bree and The Philippe Family over these past fifteen months, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A celebration of Bree’s life will be hosted at a later date, post-COVID restrictions, when we can all gather together around a campfire to share stories and memories of our much-loved Bree.
